- The filters on the Mailbox Manager are key to reducing airtime and should all have some form of setting so that your ships are not left vulnerable. Please take time to check your Filter to ensure that you do not get a huge airtime invoice at the end of the month.
We tested alternatives and found that when using the HDLC protocol, the simple mailbox check took just 4 seconds. The connection time when sending data is also approx. 4 seconds and the data throughput rate is some 20% more efficient than when using PPP. Please note: we are now able to provide a limit to the size of messages being sent from the ship. Call Support to put a limit on your ships outbound messages. When submitting a ticket via our Support Centre it is important to enter a relevant subject line as this will be your future reference. H2OSatellite no longer supports PPP on ISDN channels. We recommend customers use the HDLC protocol, which is faster and more efficient.
